Keep or sell?

So I have a 2.4l in MN. It's clean but not spotless as far as rust goes. Mostly surface. It was BONE stock and faded when I got it. I bought for 8k with 110,000 miles and a soft top. Now it has a few goodies and hardtop. I'm torn because I'm eventually going to want more power, the ability to lift higher and run big tires. The cost of that on a 2.4l would be astronomical. Should I hold off on putting a ton of more money into this one and enjoy what I can until I move south in the next couple years and then just sell it for an already built one? I nice hung about southern jeeps is that they are more the most part free of rust and if someone already messed with paying a shop to regear and all that non sense, I'm sure it will save me from dropping 30k in mods to my little 2.4 to get it where I want it. It's a hard decision to make but I'm leaning towards leaving my current as it is and sell it down the road. Currently has 2.5" and 33s so I think it's at the max for a 2.4l anyway ha. Opinions/thoughts?

Well, I'll say this much... As you already know, if you plan on doing a lot of highway driving, the 4 bangers just suck, flat out.

If I was purchasing a TJ with the intent of a lot of highway driving, I would avoid the 4 cylinder at all cost. So you have to ask yourself, are you doing a lot of highway driving? If so, I would sell the 4 cylinder and get a 4.0, no doubt about it.

If not, I'd probably just hold off and wait until you move down South.

You're right about Southern TJs probably being much more rust free than they would be in Wisconsin!

It's not only highway, it's the fact that I'm gonna have to search for a Dana 44 and lockers and regear when all of these would be solved with a rubi

Honestly, it sounds like you are already looking at a 4.0 in your mind - and I know if it were me, I would be thinking about it a lot once I got to that point...
I would say maybe not necessarily a rubicon, but even just a straight 4.0 model with a 44 in the rear - that way you can really build it to your liking, instead of "Well, it came with a decent this or that on it already, but I'd really like 'Part X' instead..."

That being said, you also wouldn't go wrong with a decent rubi either
