It looks like I have a leaking steering gear box. Is it worth it to try and rebuild it or am I better off just replacing it with a new one? Is it difficult to replace? Thanks.

First try a seal restorer. Use a turkey blaster to suck all of the PS fluid out of the reservoir then refill it with Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak. That cured the leak in my previous TJ.

If it is still tight and free from excessive play then trying to salvage it would be worth while. If it’s sloppy and near it’s end then I would look to replace it.

For reference the photos attached show the dripping fluid.

This seems to have worked for me recently, ~2weeks and no leaks. Can I run 100% leak stop long term or do I need to phase in regular PS fluid?
