In the Rockies , TTB was great if you where selling front tires . I've seen F-250 eat a set of fronts to the steel belts in 6500 miles pushing hard in the corners on asphalt . On F-150's or Broncos climbing steep grades off road the front end would get severe axle tramp , bouncing like a basketball with 100 p.s.i.

But they could get good travel when modified for Baja racing !

My first car was a 2wd ranger. In high school the party spot was "the pines," and I was leading a convoy out there and had no idea how much better the ranger handled dirt than the other cars until people started screaming at me for driving way too fast and people almost ran off the road just trying to keep up. I truly thought I was taking it easy!

Back when tough truck racing was new and run what ya brung, I had an 88 4x4 Ranger with a 5.5" Super Lift kit on it.

Monster Trucks came to Chattanooga and were gonna race outdoors in the new UTC Finley Stadium. They advertise Tough Truck races with free entry fee.

I entered Friday nights race, there was me, an S10, a F150 and a Jeep Cherokee Chief.

I won Friday nights race and collected $200.00 for winning.

Never raced tough trucks again after night. Little 2.9 V6 running in 2 wheel hi beat all the others
