Lift over time game plan

I have a BB 2inch on now. I need new control arms and shocks cause mine are shot. I dont want to buy stock arms because I want to lift to 3 inches. I will need to do this in stages. This is my plan.
1.Buy and install Savvy double adjustable now.
2. Buy Rancho shocks for 2-3 inch and run them know.

Then later buy 3 inch springs, trackbars, SYE and other needed hardware . Would the Rancho shocks still work? Does this seem like a solid plan. I can spread out the cost but hard to explain a $3500 as ll at once purchase at the moment.

There’s no way to 100% know, if you want to get 100% travel. You need to measure once at your height, then get the shocks that will be in the middle of travel and still give all the up travel and down travel your tires will enable.

That being said, I’ve kind of done that, and for what your paying overall, $210 or so for shocks that should work, and if they don’t another $210 isn’t the worst. They should, but you may end up just shy.
Your plan is solid, but if your need shocks now you kinda have to.

Side tangent somewhat, but by doing this you mean you can throw springs on, measure, than wait for shocks? Or can you ride around on stock shocks and say 2.5" springs until the shocks come in ?

You can put 2.5” springs on and order if you can’t wait.

Not ideal, personally I would pull the springs, measure for your shock by cycling your suspension with no springs, and put the old springs back in and order the shocks, and put it all in together.

Why all that money for a 3" lift? Stock control arms work perfectly fine with a 3" lift ,flex well and cost $22 to replace if you bend one. It amazes me after having 19 Jeeps, the money people THINK they need to throw into them to have fun and be reliable. From your profile, you don't NEED that stuff. It's your money and throw it away any way you want. I've sold 17 of my Jeeps and have made a decent profit, so I do what fits my needs and not others. Good luck.

I’m calculating $3,400 right there. I’m assuming if he’s buying Savvy arms, he’s not budget part shopping (by the way, I have zero problem with budget shopping parts). These are Savvy/Currie maybe JKS type prices with some discounts I’ve used on Savvy site, so I’m not dreaming up these prices.

Just offering advice from someone who's had WAY too many Jeeps and WASTED way too much money going with what the crowd says, instead of people who have tried it all and learned what NOT to do for your specific needs. Hey Boogie you are correct it is my money. I had a plan when I bought this thing to do a Savvy or Metalcloak 4 inch lift. Other things came up with fixing this Jeep up, frame repair, cooling system, regear, S35 to hold a locker. I will be building this Jeep with the option of more than 3 inch lift at a later date. I will build it as I can with quality parts. This Jeep will never be sold so not looking to profit, if I bought another Jeep this one would serve my family and friends well.
Oh and with 3 ex wife's I hope you choose your lifts better than you choose your women

Man, curious how long ago...if I saw you race, I'm old, watched Bob "Hurricane" Hannah who made my family Yamaha fans in the late 70's early 80's, went to every Supercross in the Astrodome for a decade .... my principal made me turn my Supercross shirt inside out every year because it had Miller on it, ha.

No apology necessary. That's what the forum is for. I enjoy your contributions. I am at a point of my life were I can afford to build it the way I wanted. The main reason to doing it in sections is because I dont have an "Ex Wife" and want to keep it that way

Damn I'm old! I met Bob in a Holiday Inn elevator because the entire race team stayed at our Motel when we went to Daytona way back. Jeff Ward had defected to Kawasaki too. Marty Smith was #1 125 cc back then.

Yeah, Marty was #1 2 years, I think until 76 when Hannah blew up and took it, or 77. Mike Bell I was a fan of on the bigger bikes, but the 125's were cool. I was a super small kid, but we lived in Naples, FL for 1 year, 76, and motocross and enduro was huge, my dad ran a 3 hour enduro or something, good times.
