i currently have a stock jeep tj exhaust system. my muffler is just about rusted through and i want a meaner and better sounding system, i was thinking out replacing the factory muffler with a resonator. i also wanted a larger outlet and exhaust tip, i was thinking upgrading to 3 inches. that means i would need a resonator that has a 2.25 inch inlet to a 3 inch outlet. i would then have someone install it and add a 3 inch pipe to the back and throw on a tip. i cannot seem to find a resonator with those specifications i need. can anyone help?? or should i just keep the 2.25 exhaust pipe and get a corresponding tip? Thanks for any help.

I have the MBRP catback along with the 3rd cat deleted. It sounds great and is made with 2.5" pipe with a 3" tip

I have the magnaflow off-road cat back and it’s very aggressive. Really sounds like a v8 at idle. I love it and it turns a lot of heads.

I don't recommend ANY online cat back exhausts. They're overly expensive and if you don't like its sound you either have to live with it or take it off and send it back and wait for a refund. Go to your local small independent muffler shop and tell them what you want, they can put it together for you. And if you don't like its sound they'll replace the muffler with one you'll more likely like.

Had exhaust shop install a magnaflow and ran its own pipe.

much cheaper and they flexed up the rear to determine clearance.

I replaced the exhaust on my LJ with a stainless steel Magnaflow system they make for Quadratec. The same system is also available for SWB TJs.

There was a time when I would have echoed the advice of using exhaust/muffler shop but in my experience only stainless steel will last in an environment with road salt, therefore options are pretty limited.

I originally had this same catback system, and it ended up cracking along the muffler welds in less than a year. I warrantied it and got the MBRP in its place and have had much better luck with it. The magnaflow also wasn't very much louder than stock. The MBRP had a bit more grumble to it

I second Jerry's suggestion. You can always get your own muffler and have them fab up the rest. A good muffler shop should have a few in stock they can mock up and let you hear at idle at least.

I currently have a Flowmaster Hushpower Laminar muffler on the 4.0 and I could not be happier with the system.
