Looking for help with an electrical gremlin

Yeppers. Like I said, my next Jeep will be a cj7, or I might go back and get an early bronco, but my fun cars aren't going to have a computer in them again if I can help it.
There isn't a non diesel car made for general use in the last 50 years that can't be disabled with the loss of just one wire connection. Lose a ground in them, same problems, just different symptoms.

I will gladly live an occasional computer/electrical problem to avoid having to deal with a carburetor. Those things cause Tourettes 👿

So I thought I was making progress. Got to a point where the dash would light up consistently and the Jeep would start every time, but was still having issues with the turn signals making a squealing noise and trying to kill the engine while it was running and the wiper switch would kill the engine. I replaced the wiper switch, and that seemed to solve that problem. Replaced the flasher relay, which removed the squealing noise but didn't keep the turn signals from trying to kill the engine. So I let the Jeep sit for a week while I waited in a new turn signal switch. Now we're back where we started, no response from the dash when the key is turned but everything not on the run circuit works fine.

I really need some additional ideas. I've already inspected all my grounds. Battery is charged, and adding a 100amp boost from my charging station has no impact. Starter operates just fine if you jump the posts on the top of the starter. All the fuses are good. Wiring all appears tight. There is obviously something I'm missing, but I have no suspects based on the wiring diagrams. Help!
 
little more insight gained. If I take a jumper wire and bridge the connections in the ignition wire connector, from pink/black to various wires (I forgot to write it down) I can get the blower to come on, the gauges to light up, and the radio to come on. If I do the same off of the red wire (which measures 12.5v or so), nothing lights up. The factory service manual indicates that this red wire feeds all of the circuits I'm having issues with.

Before I unbundle the entire wiring loom looking for a break, any other pointers I should try to follow?
 
dude , we are having the exact same issue with 1997 Jeep TJ manual trans. replaced battery, alternator , blinker switch, multifunction relay. next on my thoughts is ignition switch. as for some reason it seems linked to that. I just can't wrap my head around how flipping the blinker or wiper can stall out the engine.

did you ever get anything figured out?

Do you own a test light or voltmeter?

Well I hope this post finds you as we had the exact same issues...

My son and I finally found the problem.

A red wire located in the wire harness behind the battery under the PCM. About 1 ft away from the distribution block. Everything is working 100% now.
