Hey guys, new to the community, I inherited my moms 2000 4.0 TJ, and have been doing little things in my spare time to get it running the best I can. I have done all fluids, injectors, plugs, radiator, fuel pump, Wheels, tires, aesthetic mods...but I think Im interested in having it tuned. Anyone have any experience with different people/platforms?

Ryan knows his stuff. He solved many issues I was having with the Hemi after having been previously tuned by a reputable shop. Runs like a top now.

Although I don’t have personal experience, I believe Ryan has a canned tuned for the stock 4.0 which several on the forum have uploaded with good results.

FRP would be the best tune but I have heard he's basically impossible to get ahold of these days.

I'm sorry you feel the need to put this out there, Chris, but there is no validity to this anymore.
Our business phone is publicly posted, as are multiple email addresses. We just went through approximately 11,000 emails dating back to 2019 to make sure nothing was left unanswered/incomplete/pending.
I now have multiple employees to answer msgs as needed.
We have had issues with both turnaround times and response previously, but we have dealt with this by adding staff and restructuring how incoming messages are dealt with.

Just clearing the record

I can attest to the fact that Ryan has been very easy to get a hold of recently and has been right there to answer questions when I had things I didn't understand. So I can't comment on previously but know that NOW FRP is easy to contact.

Can't say enough about my good experiences with FRP...

I wouldn't have bothered putting it out there if I hadn't received somewhere around a dozen emails over the past year or so of members telling me they couldn't get ahold of you to get a tune for their TJ with some even going as far as saying that you flat out told them you didn't have the time.

Now I understand, people get busy as I'm sure you are. Be aware though that as far as the 4.0 goes you are pretty widely regarded on this forum as being the go-to-guy for TJ tunes. I rave to people all the time about how much of a difference your tune made on my 4.0 and I suspect people listen to that.

I have no problem giving you free word-of-mouth advertisement because that's just the type of guy I am.

I didn't mean to disrespect you or your business in any way and I hope you don't take it that way. At the time of writing that I was just letting that person know that you may be very busy these days.

In any case, I'm glad that you've hired more people and that you're able to expand your business. It's clear to me that you know what you're doing and as long as you want the business I'll keep sending it your way.

Keep up the good work and God bless!

Without having any further info, I can't speak to this.
In the last 2 years, yes, we have had to take breaks from new orders because we could not keep up.
If I said no, or told them I did not have time- I am 100% sure it was for good reason.
I don't get off on just not answering.
We get on avg 150-200 msgs a day- that's after shutting off the FB/IG msg portals because people would msg us quite literally out of boredom.
When we brought in our admin assistant, we went thru the emails purposely to ensure everything got answered. "Clean slate", as it were.

Generally speaking, most msgs are responded to now within 24 hours.

That's great news. The messages I received were over the period of the past year or so. In a nutshell people would tell me that they found you as my recommendation for a 4.0 tune but that they tried to get ahold of you and you either didn't respond or told them you were too busy at the moment and they were thus seeking other tuner recommendations.

In any case, you sorted it out so it's not even worth revisiting or digging up old PMs.

I'm glad you figured it out and I'm even more glad to hear that your business is doing so well. Too much business is never a bad thing.

Like I said, I'll keep sending people your way as long as you want the referrals!

As a business owner I can relate to some of this thread to a degree- getting so inundated with calls (for business) that it kept me from doing the work of the business, or even being able to be “on task” without being interrupted 5 times in 10 minutes. It got to the point I was on the phone 10,000 minutes per month.

I will probably have an aversion to the phone for business the rest of my life.

One way or another, owners do have to find a way to service clients, acknowledge prospective clients and make it all work.

Its a hard call- an assistant has helped me sustain growth, which pays for the assistant 🤣

I just outsourced my Insurance Estimates/Supplements to a independent consultant out of Texas who guaranteed me that she could pay her 5% commission as well as add at least a thousand a month to my bottom line in the way of nitpicking everything the insurance companies will pay for that most shops leave on the table.. 10 days in she's done 4 supplements for me, totaling more than 6000.00 and AT LEAST $2k of that was stuff I would have overlooked,
things are looking up lol

Awesome-

- you can make a lot of money that way, not a thing wrong with letting a specialist wear them out. You’ll never see an insurance company go bankrupt- They get their money on the front side for years.

- you can also make more money with the time she saves you- now you can watch your business, watch for waste, shop for better parts deals or lord help, have a day off occasionally.

I came to the place that I found I did three things well-

-Develop work

-solve design and implementation problems

- make sure we finish strong and get paid, which helps me get more work to develop, etc.

Anything that gets in the way of that someone else does, or doesn’t get done.

No one should ever be tied down to ownership to the point that they can’t do what’s best for them- It takes a smart person to say “hey I think somebody can handle this insurance company better than I can, etc.” It also takes a little humility.

Once you get a business rolling, there are a lot of ways to make money. You can make a lot of money by how you spend money.

And profit is not evil- it is what allows you to be there for the customer later to warranty that work or help them again. It allows your employees children to get Christmas, dental care and school clothes. It makes the world go round.

I grew up around auto body, as well construction. You have my respect. Businesses that produce a finished product-especially one that has to rival the factory work that is now at the highest level it’s ever been, and please customers that can be downright ridiculous on quality and service, earn their pay.

Never forget you have the freedom to change anything at any time to make your business work. Business owners play the victim so many times or lie to themselves about why they’re not successful. Most of the time businesses are not successful because they suck. They are filthy, disorganized and give crappy service and quality. It is not the competition, It is the mindset of the people at the business that makes the difference.
