I have a 99 TJ auto 4.0 and whenever I try and start the jeep, I get this constant and loud beep that doesn't go away unless u turn the key off. After the 3rd or 4th time of turning on and off, the jeep will start with no problems. Anyone know why this could be happening?

It doesn't go away even when the vehicle is running and you're lets say, driving down the road?

Thoughts: seatbelts, doors adjar, check fuses, low fluid, service lights lit up on the dash?

How long has it been doing this?

Look at your oil pressure gauge. My bet is that it is showing low oil pressure until you give it a little throttle.

This is a classic sign of a bad oil pressure sensor. The TJ is very particular when it comes to sensors. It is an easy repair. Do NOT buy an off brand from a parts store. You MUST replace it with a Mopar one.

I know. I replaced mine with a $8.00 one from a parts store. Worked fine for about 3 months, then the same problem reappeared.

Replaced it with a Mopar one and no more problems.
