I'm toying with the idea of dropping down an inch or two with my Rubicon Express 5.5" long arm suspension. I'm not sure where I had read about this, but IIRC - the only difference between the RE 4.5 and 5.5 are the springs and possibly bump stops (I think @Jerry Bransford talked about it somewhere). Is this correct?

If all that I'd need to do is swap springs, then I might reach out to an old client of mine that has a local aerospace manufacturing plant that builds custom springs (I can imagine they'd be up for retrofitting my Jeep with some of their springs).

I'm on 35's and as much as I'd like to, I'm not planning to go any higher on tire size with my 05 TJR due to axle strength limitations (If my diff pumpkin clearance becomes a regular issue, I'll probably think about building a new vehicle).

I am looking to do the same thing to my TJ. Do you have the triangled rear control arms? I emailed RE about lowering mine and they did state the only difference is the springs and shocks between the 5.5 and 4.5 lifts. I was looking to go down to 3.5" of lift as my front end gets very light and lifts a lot while wheeling but RE said 4.5" would be the lowest that would work with the rear tri link bracket.
