I have 2004 TJ X. I removed my console to do some work on shifter and 4 wheel levers. I noticed that my inner shifter boot was for the most part gone. all that remained was the rectangular plastic frame. i looked at numerous sites to find the boot. even Mopar OEM. no one makes it. i can find up to 2002 with no problem. i bought the 2002 circular boot and thought I could modify it. after 2 hours and 3 attempts and 30 dollars for the part i gave up trying. anyone know where I can find the part or how to make one that allows the shifter to move freely and not get caught between the shifter and floorboard and even the external boot. hot air blows up thru the 4 wheel lever or i would just say forget it.

There is a guy on eBay selling a close replacement. Apparently you just need to redrill the holes. Search 52109771AA on eBay and make sure you read his description.
the previous owner of my TJ ran into the same situation. He used an old football. It's not only functional, it's unique looking.

When I did a manual swap on my 04 I used the auto shifter cover and adapted an older style inner boot
I used the one on e-Bay and had to modify a bit along with silicone caulk but it does what it is supposed to. The hole for the shifter is a bit larger in diameter than the shifter but I used an O-ring to close the gap.
I just order this for my 2005 Rubicon. Says it succeeds 52059661AB. Should fit a 2004 I would think? Might look around on some dealer OEM part sites.
