So I ordered the MasterTop Bimini top for the 97-06 TJ through Quadratec. Quality is nice and it fits very snug all around. I had to replace the one that came when I bought it because that one either was wrong for the Jeep or old and stretched way out. It kept coming undone on the front and sides.

Took it for a ride last night and as soon as I got above 45 mph it started flapping really loud in the back where it meets the roll bar. Pulled over and tightened the straps as much as possible. Back on the road it happened the same.

I have tried numerous ways of strapping it down with the same results. Best I can tell it is a design issue. Top has 5 rear straps- 1 center, 2 on each side. The side straps are about 6" apart with 1 right at the edge, the other 6" inward. The problem is, the inside strap is angled and you pull it over to the far edge and loop it through the same buckle as the very outside strap. What this does, it leave a large space between the side straps and the center strap, which is where the fabric slaps against the roll bar.

The one I removed was a Smittybilt and it too had 5 straps, but the two inner straps on each side were spaced out about 10" from the side and connected separately. Never had the slapping problem I'm getting now.

Anyway, guess this is kind of a review in case someone else is looking at tops. I will be returning this one ASAP as I can't drive with that damn slapping noise right above my head.

Oh, any suggestions on a bimini to get instead of this one???? Thanks
