New to the Jeep life! I finally found the right one to start as a good base build for my son and I. I was lucky to find and purchase an all original 1998 TJ sport 4.0l with only 55k miles! The Jeep is ridiculously clean for its age, however I did find one hopefully minor issue that I would like some pointers on. I parked it in the garage and shortly after noticed a gas smell, went and checked underneath and found a small puddle of gas just in front of the driver side rear wheel. It wasn't actually dripping when I found the puddle so I cleaned up the area and then fired it up. I immediately found where the fuels dripping point was, however its not where the fuel is actually leaking. The fuel is running down the steel fuel lines and where they bend downward in front of the rear axle is where its dripping. I couldn't trace back any further and didn't notice any other areas the gas was coming from. I should add that I did just fill up the tank prior to driving it home and parking in the garage. The fuel gauge on the dash does seem to be operating properly as well. I've read that the locking ring can be an issue, but it also seemed like the gas would build up under the gas tank on the steel protector. Any advise is greatly appreciated!
