Moryde Tailgate Reinforcement Question

**I have tried to upload a 13 second video, but it won’t let me - it will only let me upload pictures**

I just installed the Moryde tailgate reinforcement kit on my TJ, and used the stock spare carrier for my spare (33x12.50 on steel 15x8). Everything seems good overall, but I do have a question about some movement in the tailgate. Everything is tight, and the spare is firmly up against the bumpers. It seems like when I shut the door or hit the tire (simulating a bump) the whole tailgate twist/bounces a bit. The entire tailgate itself moves/twists.

I do have a HD spare carrier, but it pushed the tire so far away from the tailgate that there was no possible way I could get the bumpers to snug against it. It was almost an entire 12” away from the tailgate when

I don't have the Morryde but my 35 on stock carrier (I know!) does the same. As long as everything is tight and the tire is tight against the snubbers, you should be fine. There's just a lot of weight and leverage on everything back there.

Normal. It is due to the design flaw of a 3 points of restraint system and the flimsy tail gate being able to move at the lower left corner. In order to prevent that movement, it requires a 4th point of contact/restraint at the lower left corner.

Correctly adjusted, the lower left corner has firm contact and compression of the weatherstrip without being levered out of the gate opening via a too tall snubber. After that, you just get to watch it wiggle.

The bigger flaw is we are depending on compressing the rubber weatherstrip to stop movement and that's never gonna happen.

The snubber on the bottom on the body is the most important one. Can’t see it in your video but as long as that one has solid contact you should be good to go.
