I’m refreshing things on my ’95 YJ and I’ve run into an odd problem with the rear body mounts. The FSM and the original parts list indicate that all four of the rear bushings/isolators are identical. However, the holes in the crossmember in front of the fuel tank are smaller than the ones in the rearmost crossmember so I can’t get the bushings in, even with the entire weight of the tub pressing down.

There’s a kind of ring/flange in those two holes that isn’t present in the rear ones.

I’m wondering if I should try to remove the flange/sleeve, but I’m worried that the hole will then be too large; about 4mm larger than the bushing diameter.

I think all the frame/crossmembers are original. Are TJs like this?

Apparently the inner ring wasn’t supposed to be there; it came out without much trouble and Problem Solved!
