Need help with wiring 3rd brake light

The other harness on the driver’s side rear is for the rear windshield wiper. If you have a hardtop, it should hook into that apparatus to make it functional. If not, it does nothing.
The brake lights are accessible from behind the driver’s side rear wheel, underneath the rear panel. It’s a black flappy thing that is attached by one of those plastic plugs that you’ll have to tear up to get off. Then you’ll reach up inside the rear panel and find the brake light harness. There is one on the passenger side too and I’m not sure which side carries the 3rd brake light, but hopefully someone else will chime in as that’s the end of my knowledge

This is was you need. Those attach to the back of the plugs on the driver side (The two silver round headed stud looking things):
Its a simple system, connect it up and it should work. If not use a voltmeter to check that power is going through the contacts. Should be very straightforward. Let us know if you have any other questions.

The top connector im this photo is actually the female end from the hardtop that has been slightly pulled out. I can't find any harness from the jeep itself that connects to the hardtop. Is it possible my jeep never had the harness to connect to a hardtop or was removed? Is it possible to replace?
This can't be good lol. Does anyone have a part number or description?

So that is the correct harness coming out of your hardtop to connect to the Jeep and if it was installed from the factory the other plug should be right there. Check your relay box to see if the rear defrost relay is installed or even easier check the switch panel to determine if the rear defrost/wiper switches were installed by factory. Without this, you would need to use a mopar kit to add this after the fact.

You have the same problem as me. Our TJs are a Soft Top factory and then does not have the installation made for the wipers, the Hard Top light, nor the defrost.
You have a Soft Top one with a Hard Top. They have not installed the installation for the connections. There is a kit available in Quadratec: https://www.quadratec.com/products/11190_50.htm ... with a manual for its installation.
For the third brake light is how the colleague has explained it to you. The two terminals are connected outside the body to the two terminals.

I found my third brake light contact assembly inside the glove box. Hopefully it works
As for the hardtop wiring it looks like it was there at some point but now it's not?? Anyone can confirm? Also my front fog lights are not there but the wiring is. the fog light wires are snipped at the end. Are they supposed to have pigtails or a harness of some sort?

Looks to me like that is the plug for trailer wiring? I would remove the panel under the jeep and see if the top wire connector fell through somehow. I bet there is wiring out front for the lights as well. If so you just need to purchase new ones and hook them up.. Joys of buying a used vehicle. Always fun trying to figure out what the previous owners were doing and thinking. Good Luck
There should also be the washer fluid tube that hooks up to the white plug on the hardtop.
The switches are a good sign, the plug/washer tube isn’t the best sign. The wiring goes from the driver side dash all the way to the back of the Jeep. See if you can find it, its a very stiff hard loom.
Mine actually came dual top from the factory so I’m fortunate the wiring is there. That kit will only work on the 03-06 TJ’s, the 97-00 & 01-02TJ’s use different kits as well.
I did see the washer fluid tube from under the car yesterday. I assume the harness runsInside the car? Unlike the washer fluid hose

So I accidentally pulled one of those little pins out when i first got my jeep as i was curious... I have now been told i need a third brake like to pass my state inspections. How in the world did you get back there to reconnect these to the little posts. I seem to have a bunch of wiring, brackets, and fuel tank stiff up on the passenger side and i can barely stick my head in there to see where they belong. I assume the only real answer would be to start pulling things apart back there...
I also need to fix the slow filling problem so if I'm disconnecting all the fuel tank connections I might drop the tank while im at it. Thoughts? Advice?
You’re talking about one of the two pins on the passenger side in the trunk area? If so, stop, don’t go up through the wheel well. Pull the rubber grommet, reach through the hole and get the connector, pull it through the hole, stick it through your grommet, reconnect and put the grommet back in.

Can anyone tell me what the name of the connectors in the top picture here are called and better yet, where do I find them? A PO pulled these off of the wires on my 97. Any help is appreciated!
Try googling electrical post connector or stud connector.
