This will be a long post so I apologize in advance. My tj left me stranded on the road. All the signs point to the fuel pump going out. So it's been running rough at idle, I did the throttle body cleaning as recommended by Jerry on an older post. It started back firing and stalling after that I ran it for a little while and it started running well so I figured the fluid ran through the system and that was that. The next day I washed it both out and and engine bay like I done some many other times before. And again it had problems getting it to run it stalled, backed fired and ran rough until i forced it to run well. I went out for a ride with the fam and it died on me. I would not start i had to pushed out of the way and had towed home. When it died it crank well it just would not start at all. It was had so I could not really try to check it. Today, the next day. It started right up. I did not ride it for fear it would died again. I thought it was the fuel pump at first and I still think it is. But maybe something got wet when I washed the engine or even vapor locked. The fuel pressure regulator did not work well and I do have a vapor leak so the fuel tank had to come down anyways. So any thoughts and advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.
