Need some star wrench mounting ideas

What's the point of a star wrench anyway? You only need one socket at a time.

Multiple size lug wrench for multiple vehicles, either at home or to help others along the road.
Having 2 side bars stick out make it easier to apply torque to lug nut, off and on.
And while loosely holding the end bar, you can spin it to speed things up.
Win, win, win.

Lol! Must be a regional thing. My dad called it a Star Wrench, and when I was growing up (my buddies and I were truck guys) we would always be pulling wheels off to fix something on our rigs. When you said Star Wrench, they all knew what you were talking about.

Wikipedia calls them Spider Wrenches. That is definitely new to me.

As for the purpose, I guess I am still old school. I have had to change a bunch of tires on the side of the road, but I have only had to do it one time to my own vehicle. All the other times were helping little old ladies (or hot looking young ones!) who didn't know how to change a flat. But I will admit that with the onset of Roadside Assistance and Cell phones, the opportunities to lend a hand have greatly diminished.

I do carry a bunch of sockets, both 3/8 and 1/2" when I wheel. I do not, however, carry a breaker bar. I will have to get an extra to carry in the Jeep. Sometimes the best solutions are simpler than you expect.

Thanks to everyone that offered a solution! Carrying that wrench is going to be a hard habit to break!

The spin for the win! I used to drive a 77 Chevy 3/4 ton. 8 lugs each wheel.

I carry a 4 way on my trailer when camping. I have an old Snap-On 4-way at my house. Bet those are hard and expensive to come by now. My 18 volt Makita impact does most of my lug removal here.

Can’t help you with star wrench mounting, but if your looking for tire changing solutions I keep a breaker bar with the appropriate socket Velcroed with the rest of the jack accessories.

That looks just like my setup but I use an impact flip socket. It has 3/4" on one end, 13/16" on the other and sits on a 3" extension. Chrome sockets can break under high torque and I like the insurance of an impact socket when I don't have a replacement handy.

I've carried a star wrench for a lot of years. Cut the side opposite your lug nut size off to a short 4" nub to use for a spinner. Mine is bungied to a rear post inside the cab between the post and the hard top. I cut the first one off flush so when I replaced it I left the nub to spin the wrench when the nuts are loose.

Star wrenched are great up UNTIL you over tighten the lug nuts, then you need 2 men and a small boy to hold up the end opposite of the lug nut. Buckle buster there.

I keep a four way lug wrench in a 30mm Ammo can behind the back seat. But I am going to pick up one of those extendable ratchets next time I go to HF.

You can get a lot of torque on the lug nut with the 4-way, especially the big ones. I see guys at the poorer tire shops here in Baja using them all day. Get it on the nut, grab one side and stomp on the other.

There are a lot of better ways to do it.

This is what I carry and it fits nicely alongside the factory jack extension below the passenger door sill.

I have one like this called the Gorilla wrench. Works well, then collapses so I can put it in my bag.

I have used one of those, they are disappointing when it comes to lug nuts.

Worked perfectly on my wheels. It comes in handy for all kinds of stuff.
