Need to replace thermostat housing?

The black is pitting, especially between main chamber and sensor chamber.

I would sand that thing down with some sandpaper, maybe 120 on a flat surface. You don't want the gasket flapping around in between there. The only time I replace those housings is when the hose sealing surface gets too pitted, no easy way to fix that.
