The black is pitting, especially between main chamber and sensor chamber.

Clean it up with a wire wheel and go

I would sand that thing down with some sandpaper, maybe 120 on a flat surface. You don't want the gasket flapping around in between there. The only time I replace those housings is when the hose sealing surface gets too pitted, no easy way to fix that.

You can use a fine grit knife sharpening stone to clean up the gasket mating surface if there are corrosion divots.

I’ve always been a fan of Roloc bristle discs for this kind if stuff. Really let’s you get all the crud out of the nooks & crannies without taking away metal.
