Howdy y'all, been on the forum since July.
A little about myself:
I am from right outside of Waco, TX. Recently graduated from Millsaps College and will be attending Tarleton State this fall for grad school. 21 years old, will be 22 in September. originally drove a 88' Chevy, now driving the jeep
A little about my jeep (Jenny)
Jenny is a 04 tj unlimited "lj" my step dad purchased jenny in 2004 from a dealership so the only owners have been him and myself. it was passed down to me after i graduated hs and has been mine since. as i recently graduated college money is a bit tight so upgrades right now are limited to minor details and interior things, as well as the usual maintenance. here are some pics of Jenny as is. All stock, minus a few things done to the interior.
been lurking in the shadows on the forum for a month or so now, gathering from the plethora of knowledge that is on here. looking forward to getting to know y'all and continue reading posts and getting more info.

Very nice Unlimited / LJ you've got there!

One thing is for sure, we've got no shortage of Texas members on here.

Got any plans for that nice LJ of yours?
 
Recently i spent a few bucks to upgrade to blue LEDs in the dash/courtesy lights/ dome lights. taken the carpets out and hand washed them. and regular maintenance.
planned stuff that will have to wait till i build up some funds:
- 2" or 2.5" ome hd suspension lift
- 31" or 32" tires
- new front bumper
- new rear bumper
- winch (not sure what brand)
- new headlights (originals are getting a bit dim/ one has semi large crack in it)
- maybe some new tail lights

Should probably state that this jeep has been on some long travel trips to college and back. (central tx to jackson ms)
as well as random trips to visit friends on the coast or in alabama. sitting around the 185k mile mark.
this is my DD, and we dont get a whole lot of rain around my area, so some trail riding, and heading down to the river to set out some kayaks, as well as the occasional creek/river bed when its dried up. when it does rain i dont hesitate to take her out and get dirty.

Central Texas has some fine wheeling places. Some of us Texas guys are planning a wheeling trip out at Hidden Falls Adventure park in early Oct. https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/texas-jeepers.6691/page-17
We would love to have you! They have a variety of trails for anyone. There is always room in the group for you to ride if you aren't wanting to tackle some of the tougher trails with your jeep.

On this note, let's set a date. What about Oct 13 or 20?

If I were you, I wouldn't hesitate to go 4" and 33's on an LJ, Price will be no different than doing a 2.5 and 32's and you will be much happier, IMHO. LJ's look best on 35's and if you do the 4" now you can work up to the 35's over time.)

I agree with the 4" and 33"/35" comment but wasnt sure if i could afford the other stuff you have to do to make that happen right now.

It probably wouldn't take any more. Think about it, with a 2.5" OME, you would very likely need an adjustable front trackbar, and you would need that on a 4" too. You might need some extended rear sway bar links, but again, you'd likely need that with 2.5" too. So, it's really no different, and with an LJ, you can get away with 4" of lift and not have to have an SYE and DC. So, if it were me, I'd go straight to 4"

I wasnt aware you dont need an SYE or DC with an lj.
why is that? also dumb question but what does DC stand for?

Im 22 as well, I live in Bee Cave. West Austin. Definitely lets go wheel on the 13th of Oct

its a pleasure. i kinda fell into the ownership of this jeep, as a hand-me-down from step-dad. looking forward to making some mods to her. digging your blue rig!
 
@CTXTJguy no problem if you dont have your lift on, you will learn a lot just looking at @JMT and @b0xcar and @Blackoutt jeep rigs, those are some beasts !
I'm there as the self appointed engine guy, those other Jeep heads know suspension and most everything else about TJs so its a nice texas group, i wish i didnt live so far.
I usually drive thru Waco the day before and sleep in my jeep :) or camp out :)
