New Infotainment Radio Option (Looks Stock)

Yeah, that is what a lot of people think until they mess it up and then blame the stereo. Stereos these days have come a long way and the electronics are more delicate and more advanced. We didn't have 5 channel amplifiers, wireless Android Auto, Hands free phone connections, Bluetooth, back up cameras, and all the gadgets on them, 25-30 years ago. I trusted my professional installer and he promised to back the installation. I've had it about two years now with no problems. And, if I do, I know he will support it. But, you do you.

Stereos these days have not changed a single bit when it comes to wiring a headunit. its all simple stuff.

I don't need to explain myself if you can't understand. It's just not worth it. I learned that during the pandemic and I never got Covid. So you do you.

What, exactly, in the hell are you on about? It's a fucking car stereo, there's nothing to explain! For fuck sake! If you can't figure out basic wiring, cool, then pay a pro. As you keep saying, "You do you."

It's a job most people can actually handle with 100% success on their own. But it requires some initiative, a little time investment, some basic tools and maybe a dose of patience, depending on the individual. But one must know their limits and I'm glad that you so clearly know yours. Good for you, human.

Personally, I didn't buy my LJ so others could work on it. But then again, no one has touched any of my vehicles since many decades, save for government mandated inspections. But that's me doing me.

You're going off, I'm not going there. Sorry.

I was just checking out your car and found this thread. It looks like we have similar ideas as I also have bought this radio. Haha

I’ve got a JBL compo set in the standard holes in the dash. And 13 cm JBL in the sound bar.
Both on the internal amp of the radio.
Combined with an active under seat JBL subwoofer.

CarPlay works better and faster then on my wife’s 2023 BMW X3.

The sound is good. The fit is good and I really like the looks. Also like the fact not a lot of people will steal it as it only fits these cars and my car is open for 8 months a year.

Can’t really say anything negative about it.

Don’t know anything about durability as I only have it for 4 months but so far, so good.

Can you post a video of this running? Is it snappy? How is the sound? I have a Chinese knock off from like 12 years ago that looks similar (more buttons, no car play) as CarPlay wasn’t a thing back then.. but I find the sound out isn’t there and I have Polk speakers in the my pods, 5.25 on dash and tweeters.

I will make a video tomorrow as I’m omw to bed right know.

I’ve got a JBL compo set I the dash, JBL in the pods. Both on the internal amp off the HU. And a JBL amp and sub in the center console with a custom wooden sub box.

I think it’s sounding pretty good 👍🏼.

It’s not snappy, don’t really found something wrong with it tbh.

Thanks! So your saying the user interface of the radio is slow and laggy?

I hope this is what you are looking for.

The language is Dutch.
The focus of the camera is going on my finger sometimes and I didn’t connect the antenna as I’m only using CarPlay.

Thank you!! Looks like a beautiful day where you are! :D

The unit seems to work very well, I may have to pull the trigger and upgrade my current unit to this. I like the OEM fitment, as much as I believe a 2DIN unit would be better/faster etc.. I just cant get with gripes of how it looks in the dash..

Is there anything like this that would fit in a 2000? Or maybe an adapter?

I have had a similar radio in my 97TJ. I did however have to swap the square center dash bezel to a 03+ (round bezel). I had a radio similar to this installed, and currently have it in my 05 LJ but its out dated its from like 2012/2013.
It didn't take a lot of work, the bezel was a direct swap, but I did have to make a small modification in the dash where the radio mounted on my 97TJ to make it work. I'll try and dig up a photo of it installed.

Southern Portugal, it’s almost always summer here.

That is also why I bought it. I really like the OEM Look.

Isn’t that the same fit as the one I’m having?

I was also searching for a 1997-2002 model but couldn’t find it so far..

Yes it is the same for. I just mentioned to the other guy that I’d he changes his bezel he can fit that style radio in a pre 2003 jeep.

But you wont find a radio like this for an early TJ. I went down this road lol. That’s why in my old 97 TJ I changed the bezel to a newer style (rounded) so I could get a newer radio.
