Hi everyone, I just became the owner of a 2000 Wrangler 4.0 with a 5 speed (150k Miles). I was going to replace the clutch and I figured while I had it out I could do some other items. Here is a list I came up with. Just wondering if you more experienced folks have any suggestions.

Here is what I had with some question marks where I am undecided:
-Clutch (Luk)
-TOB
-Flywheel (Luk)
-RMS
-Oil Pan Gasket
-Catalytic Converter?
-U joints?
-Pinion?

Thanks a bunch for looking and also thank you for having a very nice community.

Welcome to the forum.

Out of curiosity, why are you replacing the clutch?

If the clutch is shot, I get it but, I would inspect the flywheel before replacing it. I did my clutch at 197k and the flywheel was in perfect shape. I would definitely do the pilot bearing when doing the clutch.

If you are pulling the pan to do the RMS, you may want to consider replacing the oil pump and pickup while you are 95% of the way there.

While you have the pan off, you have a tiny window to inspect the timing chain. Use this opportunity to check it and replace if necessary.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have this issue.

I was going to do the flywheel because it is only $60 bucks. I will add the timing chain, oil pump and pickup to the list.

Thank you again.

For the RMS, do you currently have a leak?
I wouldn't mess with the cats unless they are bad.
U-joints should certainly be inspected and you should have a spare set on hand so you can replace any time you need to...keep them in the glove box :)

Pinion? To what pinion are you referring? The pinion gear in the differential?

@Jmatp don't forget the flywheel bolts, that's another $40 easy.

I'm a no expense spared kind of guy. 90% of the work I have done is Mopar parts only (read: $$$). However, the flywheel was in such good condition, it just didn't make sense to replace it. Of course, the decision is up to you.

I opted the throw out the TO bearing that came w the Luk clutch and used an all metal one from National.
