New Wrangler JL Unlimited VS Used 2022-23 Lexus GX460

Yeah, I was actual surprised how much I didn’t care for the 4Runner. Spent 4 hours in it yesterday and 6 today and my body feels it. The hour I spent in the GX was pure comfort. I didn’t really care for the looks of the GX that much until I saw the green version. The only other color I’d consider would be silver, but in all honesty I’ll only buy a green one.

It’s so hard for me to really find any vehicle I truely like the looks of anymore. And then when you see one, the price tag usually makes it a hard pass for me.

So much shit looks the same and built like crap too.

I’ve had a newer 4 runner as a rental. I had heard people be pretty proud of them. After driving it I couldn’t figure out the attraction. I can’t remember the specific reasons but I wasn’t impressed.

As I think you know I have a 2007 V6 4Runner and pretty well love it, even approaching 240,000 miles.

I have a co-worker that just bought an 07 for her daughter that has around 115K, I think it was $12.5K. I told her it sounded like a good buy and probably be fine for at least another 100K. Previously owned by a mechanic.

Absolutely a good buy assuming no rust, and that assumption seems safe given CA. I bought mine with 229k miles for $6500. Seems wildly expensive but it is near mint underneath, having lived in Florida.

Yeah, I hadn’t been in a newer one ever and at one point last year was going to get one for the wife but we bought her a new Highlander instead. After the past 2 days, I’d never consider one of the latest generation. I be been in an older, I think 2008 and that was nice from what I remember. I’m surprised so many people have them to be honest after driving it.

Best I can describe it is there is nothing overly impressive. They just work, and keep working - at least my 2007. You both have me curious about a new one…. They’re supposed to be near identical to mine frame, drivetrain, etc wise.

The one I rented was a SR5, if it had more comfortable seats it wouldn’t be as bad. But it was nothing special.

My wife had a 2010 and it was really nice. Traded it around 40K for a Prius because she ended up in a position with a long commute. We missed the comfort of the Highlander. I never liked the Prius. At the time, we had two kids. Then she got pregnant a couple months after trading it, so we missed the third row seat.

My wife got an email from Valvoline a week or so ago that it just had an oil change at around 200K.

Well, figured I'd update this thread. Last Friday I purchase a 23 GX, but not in Nori Green, got Atomic Silver instead. I had probably close to a year invested in finding a green one and my wife was getting pretty fed up with the search and to be honest so was I (Didn't have to search that long for my LJR that only 240ish were made). Silver with tan interior was my second option and have been searching for those as well the last couple of months with no luck. Last Monday a Lexus dealer 40 miles from me posted 2 identical silver with tan interior 23's and I pulled the trigger on the second one. First one sold by Wednesday to someone that worked at the dealer. They were used as loaner vehicles for the service department by the dealership, so I was a little hesitant at first but with only 15K miles I hoped for the best. I was pleasantly surprised when i got there and saw it was pretty much spotless. Exterior had one minor ding and one minor scratch, that I new would buff out. I ended up pointing them out during negotiations and they fixed the ding and removed the scratch while I sat there. Interior is pristine as well. It's also CPO so I have an unlimited mile warranty until December of 2029. When I was getting ready to leave the dealer another gentlemen stopped me to ask if i just purchased it and i said yeah, to which he replied that he was just coming in to purchase it. Needless to say stepping from a 2002 Acura to this is nice! Glad to have one of the last V8 SUVs around.

I shouldn't have checked (just torturing myself), but a CPO Nori Green just got listed at the local Lexus dealer. After almost a year of searching, finally caved and purchased the #2 color on my list, only for the green one to pop up a month later 20 miles from me. Too late at this point and I'm pleased with my silver one, but I knew this would happen. Told my wife it would before pulling the trigger in December.
