A month ago I notice a small faint thud sound under the floor pan when taking off or coasting( under 10 MPH). And I also was get a popping/clunking sound up front when I made a sharp turn. So I jack up the front and found that both u joint were bad. the driver side being the worse. I have all ready replace the driver side and that cure the clunking turn sound. Now here the question I still have that small faint thud sound under the floor pan. Is it the passage side u-joint that haven't replace or is the transfer case. Because the sound does seem to disappear when in four hi.

It going to be awhile before I get to doing the other u-joint and the curiosity is getting to me.

I would suspect it's the u-joint before the transfer case. In any case, the u-joint is a cheap and easy fix, so I'd do it just to rule it out.

Stay away from the store brand u-joints, go for Spicer 5-1310x for the driveshafts (assuming not a Rubicon), 5-760x for the axle shafts.
