I don't know if it was a scout or a scout II (i was too young to know the difference) but my dad had one when I was a kid. I thought it was super cool. I'd love to have one now, though his impressions of it weren't great (mostly just typical carburetor complaints).

He sold that and got a Datsun 280Z, which further ignited my interest in cool stuff. I've had a couple of Z's but I haven't had a Scout.
 
Well in the auto parts business we called them intercrashables. The only way to get the right parts was to have the build sheet. They would run out of some part they got from Buick, so they would keep building them with a Ford part they made work.

I hated trying to figure out what part they needed.

"Corn binders". I've owned several of them. Hell-for-stout vehicles. Rust eventually becomes an issue in all but the driest of climates. Fuel economy was never great either, unless you ended up with a diesel version of the Scout II. Still, the last of the "real trucks", in my opinion.
