As for getting it into reverse, I'm about 95% successful when I let the clutch out in neutral, then hit the clutch and quickly snap it into reverse. The sound and feeling it makes when I do that is unpleasant, but it's the only reliable way to get in.
mine also pops out. It's not contacting the tub or console and it's got a fresh fill of Redline MTL which made zero difference. Seems to be worse under load (like backing up a hill), which makes it even more obnoxious because that means it happens a couple times a month in normal driving but about 10 times a day when negotiating tight switchbacks down the side of a mountain. It's currently the most annoying issue with my LJ which sucks because it's also expensive to fix.
