NV3550 rebuild kit

Thinking through this a little further... are the tranny lengths the same, or are driveline length changes necessary?

My idea would be to ditch the NV3550 and get a brand new AX-15 which are plentiful and reasonably priced.

I may need to go with a used trans due to cost. Should I be looking at a particular model/ year(s) of vehicle to pull one from? Does this swap require a change in drives haft length, etc due to the lengths of the 2 transmissions, or are the same length/close enough?

Thanks for the reply!

Get a brand new one from here:

I can’t comment on the shafts but if you order it from those guys they’ll know for sure.

Is there anything to be said for the NV3350s lower first and second gear?

Probably not lot of difference in real world applications?
Well I dont know for sure. I just know the ratios are lower. I've had the ax-15 in a previous tj and now the nv in this one. I definitely shift through first and second sooner in this one but this one is also regeared the previous one wasn't and there was about a year gap between the two. So definitely hard to tell. That's why I was wondering if someone had experience with both.

I prefer the daily drivability of what I remember from the ax but I also like the lower gear I have now for offroad. I'm at a point of needing a new trans so was just wondering if anyone knew if there was any real difference all other factors being equal.
