O2 Sensor Simulators

I didnt read it all but if you use spark plug anti fowlers on the 02s after the cat you will have no CEL
For what ever reason on the '97 I had, it didn't even need that. I just gutted the cat and put the muffler/tailpipe back on and never once saw a CEL.

Just use HPTuners and disable the O2 sensors that way. Easy peezy

You keep stating this, but can we pass Emmisions? I too am in AZ, I mean my friend is in AZ ;-) …

I am tired of the crazy heat under the hood, I think the mini cats are the cause of my under hood deterioration. I wanted to put earlier TJ long tube headers, ceramic coated. Just need to add and extra bung and tune out rear sensors. I’ve already lost a relay, ALL my split loom is GONE! Injectors get heat soaked and cause a slight miss when hot and idling. ENOUGH! 2 inches under my intake and fuel system is the wrong place for catalytic converters.

Orrrr, I’ll keep the cast iron manifolds, ceramic coat them, punch out mini-cats and do the anti fouler trick (I’ve done it before).

I can’t comment on whether or not your friend would pass emissions. Here where I am at in Florence there are no emissions, hence it was never a worry.

I had a marginal cat once that I cured of a CEL using a spark plug antifouler installed between the sensor and bung. It pulls the sensor back out of the exhaust stream enough to affect it's reading. Not sure if it would work on a completely absent converter though.

My cat was removed before I bought my 97 tj 2.5l and I didn’t want to replace it… P0420 codes all the time… at first I tried the anti fouler and didn’t have much luck with it… I found this and for $16 and thought what the hell… no cell-light for 6 months…. YMMV

It does. You can put a little steel wool in there to slow down the gas if you trip the CEL.

I didn’t have any luck with this. On my 97, I removed the cat and rear O2 sensor then used HP tuner software to try and disable the sensor. It still kept throwing a CEL. I reinstalled the rear O2 sensor and the CEL went off. I’ve been running without a cat for over 2 years now with no problems. I don’t know if these older TJs care about the cat as long as it has 2 good O2 sensors.

It’s been so long that I can’t comment. Mine was also a 2005 so I don’t know if that makes any difference. What I do know is that it worked great for me.

You have to turn off the sensor and the code… or just the sensor and leave it in place like you did

Does a HPTuner work on a 2001 Jeep TJ to disable the O2 sensors?

Most likely, no. They recently removed the settings from the software after what I'm assuming was an EPA crackdown. You can turn the CEL off but you can't actually disable the sensors anymore so they don't throw a code. At least, not with the provided UI.

With my Wrangler fix pcm it didn't let me do so....
I was using Hptuners Mpvi2 not the plus model so I wonder if that has to do with anything...

@Wranglerfix PCMs are not able to be tuned with HPTuners.

They are able to.
I've tuned a Wrangler fix pcm and so has @Jezza !

Edit- It may be said that you "can't" tune a wrangler fix pcm for epa/legal reasons in which I understand from a company standpoint and I respect that ! But bottom line is that you can tune one, maybe not delete the o2 sensors but other things you can i.e the fuel purge valve codes and that's about all I know !
