I stumbled onto one of Ramsey's YouTube videos a few months ago & was immediately hooked, love that guy & nearly everything he stands for, hugely entertaining & I love listening to the caller's stories along with his advice. His 'rant' videos kill me, he starts of nice & calm & a minute or two in he's screaming like a lunaticTaking out a HELOC for a car is absolutely the dumbest financial advice you can get. Not smart, ask Dave Ramsey.
Yes, we're huge Dave Ramsey fans.
And yea, loans for cars no son buenos, but I somehow came out of the box like that, probably because I grew up with my grandfather who came straight out of the Depression - when I wrapped up my education (91) I needed a 'new' car, the hand-me-down 72 Nova I was limping around in was on its last wheel, so I bought as much car as I had in my bank account which got me a 1984 Subaru hatchback for $1,500, drove that puppy until I smashed into a trash truck & totaled it probably a year later, that sucked, I had an apartment & many other expenses by then so the next ride was a 1980 Subaru hatchback I picked up for $500, drove that until it disintegrated & replaced it with a 1984 Crown Vic
As Ramsey says, go down town & look at all the skyscrapers owned by banks & insurance companies, do they have all the money in the world because their services are good for you? It all seems like common sense but judging by what I see everywhere I look, apparently it's not all that common.
