Has anyone ever heard of the air conditioning compressor being replaced with a regular air compressor? Purpose would be to fill up a small air tank for whatever needs there were.

Have you tried doing a search for OnBoard Air on google? Or York OBA? Or Sanden OBA? Just a few suggestions for searching.

To convert your a/c compressor for use for OBA look for information on the Sanden conversion. Especially pay attention to its lubrication requirement since the refrigerant being removed provided its lubricant.

Many of us have done the York OBA conversion. Companies like ORO offer kits for this.

Mine has the same as @kiwi except it theirs is a lot cleaner / net then mine. But same idea.
