P0118 Code - Won't clear

I just completed a valve cover gasket replacement and had to disconnect some of the wiring to do the work including the Eng Coolant Temp Sensor. When I put it all back together to start it up, I missed connecting the wiring harness back to that sensor so naturally it threw a P0118 code when I started it up. After connecting it, I restarted and tried to clear the code but the MIL is staying on (not blinking). No other codes but keeps giving me the P0118. No code issues prior to gasket change. I looked at the wiring, I don't see anything different. Thoughts?

The DTC should clear within a short period of starting the engine once the sensor wire is reattached and signal restored.
Did you just remove the sensing wire from the coolant sensor or did you remove the sensor from the thermostat housing ?
Is there a chance you damaged the sensor, is the connection between the sensing wire and sensor clean and are there any chafes or other damage to the sensor wiring ?

Thanks. Assuming it's something as simple as running a few cycles. Thankfully, I didn't need to remove the sensor to get to any of the valve cover bolts. I'll clean the connections to be sure.

Could just leave the battery disconnected overnight.

Maybe you damaged the wiring harness.

Doesn't take much at the back of the valve cover where it turns. But that would be a mighty big coincidence.
