Hello, I just recently picked up a 2005 4.0 Automatic Wrangler X with 140k Miles 2 weeks ago. I‘ve had the same issue twice already where after I’ve been driving for 30 mins to an hour I‘ll shut off the engine to go inside somewhere.. etc. I’ll come back out and when I start the engine it will idle rough and stall. It will eventually start after several tries but I have no issues while driving it or cold starting it. The first time this happened no check engine light came on but the second time it did this it gave me a check engine light that said P0300 for a multiple cylinder misfire. I’d appreciate any advice on what I would need to check/do. Thanks.

It's probably heat soak. The fuel in the injectors gets too hot and turns to vapor. It's been discussed on here numerous times. Get some heat shield and wrap the injectors. It solved my issue.

Sounds to me like either a heat soak issue or possibly the drain back valve in the fuel pump, which would mean the fuel pump assembly needs to be replaced.
