So I'm in a hurry after my kid's baseball practice and I'm hustling the jeep a little when suddenly it stumbles and dies. I coast it to a gas station. Pulled the codes and it's a P0300. Not a lot to go on there. I clear it, restart, drive for about a half a mile and it stumbles and dies again. P0300 again. Clear and limp it home.

I let it sit for an hour while I ran some errands in my daily driver. I cleared the P0300 again and drive it about a quartermile and it stumbled and died again. This time the codes are p0344 and p0335, more to go on.

'06, LJ, 4.0, 125k miles
p0300 random/multiple cylinder misfire
p0344 cam position sensor
p0335 crankshaft position sensor

My plan is to replace the plugs, I'm sure it could use it. Also replace the cam position and crankshaft position sensor. Any other bright ideas on this? Should I be doing the OPDA at the same time for good measure since I'm in the area?

Probably just the cam sensor would fix it. I would start there. Inspect OPDA, replace as needed, or maintenance. The other codes are most likely just a by product of the stumble and stall.

Plugs would be good maintenance if they haven't been done in awhile though.

Anyone know the part number or a link to the crankshaft position sensor? Pretty sure I have the correct cam sensor linked above, these are cheap enough that doing both might make sense given both codes were thrown, no?

For what it's worth I replaced all 6 spark plugs with Autolite XP985, I replaced the camshaft position sensor with a mopar OEM one. I just drove about 3-4 miles with no issues. Previously I'd get 1/4 mile. I'm going to keep it to short trips around town for the next week or 2 but hopefully this has it sorted.

The spark plugs in it were e3 plugs, at least one of them the gap was bigger than recommended and 3 of them had some pretty heavy carbon deposits not just on the tip. Maybe that was the issue all along? Who knows, I'll hold on to the old cam sensor and just mark it for now.

OPDA has about 1/16" movement up and down when I remove the cover. No laughing monkey sounds from it or similar. Should I be concerned?

I know this is an old post, but I had similar issues the first time I took mine through water. Is your TJ a manual? Did your problem go away? I replaced my OPDA, crank sensor, & plugs. Started to do the same things after replacing everything. Also made my speedometer max out, all gauges zero out, & have erratic rpms before dying(all different times before stalling out). People are saying the ecm, but I’m thinking a ground issue.
