Passenger airbag switch light fix (which turned off cluster airbag warning light)

I just did this fix. Thank to all who figured it out and shared it. I remember this happening in about 2003 after I washed my Jeep's interior. A scan said the switch was the problem so I went to the dealer and asked about a switch. Instead, they brought me the little circuit board. I recall it costing $10! So when it happened again and saw the only thing available was the whole assembly was $180, I was glad I found this thread.

The only bulbs I could find came in quantities of 100. I now have 99 left. If anyone needs some, I'll gladly drop a few in the mail. They are 12v 50mA.

I am new to the forum and would be interested in a few bulbs if you still have some. Amazon is currently out of stock. Please PM me if they are available.

I have some left over — PM sent

If anyone else needs a couple, let me know

just dropping by to say thank you, this fixed my airbag light!

I stumbled upon this forum searching why the Dash airbag light came on and the switch light was also simultaneously off...This thread was so informative that i ponied up the 40 clams to support this knowledge base - got the bulb, successful desoldered old one, resoldered new one - fixed!!! Im sure it wont be the last time that I use it to figure out how to keep this beast minty fresh 😎 THANKS WRANGLER TJ FORUM!

If anyone need a bulb, hit me up :)

Hi! I also stumbled on this thread as my light has been on for a year. Found out this is the culprit.

Does anyone have a couple extra bulbs they wouldn’t mind sending me? Can’t seem to find the correct ones on Amazon.

I can’t PM so I apologize for rehashing an old thread, though it is helpful 🤘🏼

Works for the airbag light fix and adding backlights to the GCD rocker switches.

I just open mine and the bulb was fine but when i turn on the car the air bag light doesn’t light up im goi to check the fuse to see if thats the problem

IF you only performed a visual on the bulb; that is not a definitive test.
Use a VOM and test for continuity which is a more definite test.
Instead of using the wheat style incandescent bulbs (12V 25 ma); I have purchased 3 mm circuit board mounted LEDs.

What do you use to get the old solder off so we can solder a new bulb? My dad is going to help me but he said he didn’t have anything to get the old solder off so not sure how we’re suppose to.

There are numerous ways to remove the solder.
I use a Solder Sucker which has a spring loaded plunger (looks like a strange syringe) which will suck up the melted liquid solder.
You can heat the solder with a soldering iron and use solder wick which attracts the melted liquid solder.

Here is an inexpensive kit (soldering iron, solder, solder sucker) you can purchase on Amazon.

Hey folks, thanks for this thread. Especially the OP and WranglinSD for the newer amazon part numbers. I'm attempting this fix now after confirming the codes with a SRS supporting code reader.

I was curious if anyone attempted to replace this with a LED and an inline resistor yet? As best as I can figure, the original bulb was a 12V, 25ma incandescent. I think I'm going to attempt to replace this with the warm white led from this set. If my math is correct, a 450 Ohm limiting resistor should do the job.

Wish me luck.

Wish me luck.

The LED that I posted above does not require a resistor; it is a direct swap.

I didn't buy those LEDs, since i already had a large collection of basic electric components. But it still worked a treat. This plus a new clock spring and my warning light is gone!
