Professional and serious amateur photographers are known to dislike smartphones, a large reason is just plain old discourtesy and rudeness by smartphone people. Its endemic in the smartphone culture.
I was videographing, by request, a dance performance just last nite. It was a very tight venue, I was against the wall in the back and barely had room and distance to work. Then - here comes that fucking glowing rectangle right into my field of view - ruining my video. I asked the guy to please keep it down low (or go to the back of the room like I was). Several minutes later, here it comes AGAIN. "Keep it DOWN! - I'm the official videographer and you're in my field of view!" No fucking consideration by these idiots - they don't give a tinker's damn that they're ruining everyone else's video - AND experience - with their damn device as its all about the PHOOOOOONNE!! These dancers don't want a damn PHOOOOOONNE screen in their video and neither do I. It blocks the view, the screen was, as is often the case, far brighter than the scene so my exposure starts to be "off". Just plain rudeness - but that is what I've come to expect from smartphone users in general, its ALL about the PHOOOOOONNE and I'm fucking sick and tired of it. The dance troupe have now had their video ruined by this fool. The one thing I will say about this guy though, was that he was actually holding his phone horizontally, which is quite rare - I'll give him that.
