Until you run into that emergent issue that your small town local hardware stores don't have the realestate needed to stock the "one tiny part" that you need to fix or complete the issue...

Same with me. The nearest Menards to me is in Cheyenne Wy 1100 miles. I’ll be in Wisconsin next Aug visiting family. I’ll have my pickup and will come back to Ca with a load of stuff. I can buy water heaters there for $200+ less there than here and will bring back 2. Bought my shop door there and it was half the price for the same quality door than here. 10’ door so it fit in the pickup.
The Wife knows every time I’m in Wi I have to visit Menards, Fleet&Farm and Farm&Fleet.
While in Poland last week I visited their version of HD. Their selection of building supplies was 3 times that of HD. At least 50 toilets on display and their door quality and selection was impressive. Too bad everything I wanted to get would not fit on the plane ride home. Just came back with some garden seeds.
Sounds a lot like many people around these parts... We drive to Hamilton or Missoula to buy lumber and other construction necessities and make out like bandits compared to paying local prices...
The line-toers dislose it when they do and end up paying Idaho sales tax when ever they do it...

More confusion: A dance sister got us (interested Belly Dancers) a performance opportunity at a local Witch's Ball event that none of us have been to before. Their theme this year is Nordic God/dess (s/es). That's fine, so what to wear? Said dance sister sends a pix of what she and her troupe are wearing. Ok, I can come close enough for that, but let's ask "Samarah", one of my teachers who is also dancing and is Asatruar (Norse Pagan). Bad idea. Now I'm getting conflicting advice; black is OK, no you want earth tones, wear a tiara, no a tiara is too shiny, wear the garland from the Druid dance we did a couple of years ago instead. Blah, blah, blah. AAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!
We finally settled on a brown skirt, a vest that goes with it, and some kind of borrowed belt/sash thing that I haven't seen yet. I think. Now, what about the fucking tiara? Well, maybe the afore mentioned garland over a large bindi or goth headpiece would be the ticket. Earrings? Crap - I dunno. So I'm lugging all this crap to class next week - ASSUMING I CAN FUCKING GET THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE - and we'll hopefully sort it out. Nordic stuff isn't my thing, so figure it out (for me)! I'm supposed to be some kind of Nordic Fae - sounds cool enough, but would someone please tell me what a damn Nordic Fae wears?
Oh, I neglected to mention that part of our performance is with veils over our heads (I now have 5 weeks to learn a troupe choreography for a troupe I'm not in), and we're wearing garlands/tiaras/headpieces/whatever-the-fucks and draping the veils over that. AND, get this - "Samarah" is wearing this incredible Norse costume that involves antlers. ANTLERS! With a veil. How the Sam Hell Tarnation is THAT going to work? Thank Goddess its not my problem - she's the one with the antlers, not me. I'm going to have enough problems with a veil over whatever the Hell I end up wearing on my head.
At least my hair won't be up...
I hope it's worth it - the last Witch's Ball performance I was involved with was - to quote the dance sister who got us THIS gig - "A total shitshow!".

These headresses would look nice. Try going for a subtle style.
I'm not much on masks, but those *are* cool head dresses. Wrong style for this performance though.
I have two Menard's, two HD's*, a Lowe's, a Tractor Supply, and three Farm & Fleets within a half hour of home. Each have their high points. We get our home appliances and some tools from Lowe's. If I need to rent a special piece of lawn equipment, it's HD. TS is a quick run for a battery, maybe some hardware. It's where I bought my 60 gallon compressor. Farm & Fleet is boots, jeans, ammo, oil, and Salted Nut Rolls. I'm always happy when I get out of there under a hundred bucks.
Menard's, tho, I have a tenuous family connection with them that means nothing. My Dad and John Menard went to high school together where they threw hands a few times. I was born in Eau Claire, WI, where Menard's was founded. When Menard's started out, my grandma would say that when John Menard needed to expand, there was a convenient fire. Don't know, don't care. I get lumber, softener salt, steel, welding rod, electrical stuff, Ural oil, lawn mower filters, driveway sealer, groceries, and home improvement stuff. I also have a rubber stamp for the Rebate Redemption Center in Elk Mound, WI. IYKYK.
