Planning for the future (motor swap budget)

Just curious what I will (inevitably) be looking at when the motor goes on my LJ. I'm pushing up against 250k, so it will come eventually.

If you've done it, how much does it cost soup to nuts to do a motor swap
to either another 4.0L or something else (4bt, LS, etc).

how long did it take to get it done?

Just planning to start budgeting for the future.

I’m about to put a new 4.0 in myself,

I also need to buy or rent an engine hoist which run about $300. You’ll also need new gaskets for everything and new fluids.
So I’d say about $4K for the engine, tools, and accoutrements.
Haven’t done it yet so don’t know how long it’ll take. I’m going to take my time though, so I’d estimate 4 days or so going slowly.
