On the road.
I'm a maintenance freak since the Navy introduced me to PMS system. I've been struggling to get a maintenance schedule set up for my Airstream and associated gear.

So, I jumped out to Grok, got into chat mode and started asking questions. The results look great!

Here's an example:

Card 9: LP Gas System – Visual & Bubble Test

Equipment/System: Propane Tanks, Regulator, Lines
Periodicity: A (Annually) + monthly visual
Safety/PPE: Gloves; no open flame; ventilate
Tools & Supplies: Soapy water solution, spray bottle, flashlight

Steps:

  1. Open propane cover; close tank valves.
  2. Inspect tanks, pigtails, regulator, main line for cracks/damage.
  3. Open one tank valve; sniff test fittings.
  4. Apply soapy water to all connections (regulator, pigtails, appliance inlets)—watch for bubbles.
  5. Exercise appliances briefly (blue flame only).
  6. Close valves when finished.
Notes: Schedule professional pressure test annually. Reference: Airstream LP guide.

Note that even the data sources are referenced.

AI just compressed six months worth of work compiling and formatting into an afternoon of messing about on a computer. It will actually take longer to verify this information than to generate the individual PMS Cards.

The one thing I've noticed about GROK is your results tend to be better if you tell GROK the desired outcome, generally, and then build from a detailed granular level.

Like always garbage in equals garbage out. That's still a thing. Even with AI.
