Powering a Kicker subwoofer with factory amp?

I just purchased a nice Kicker sub to complement my new 2din headunit. Of course, the OEM speaker is blown out as seems to be normal for these. Do you think the original amp will drive this new speaker? I also bought a Kicker CXA300.1 amp just in case the original will not work. Any ideas out there? If the original amp works , I can save quite a bit of work. Don't forget, I'm 70 years old and I don't need to blowout windows as I drive by neighborhoods!

I've been running my (discontinued) Kicker CompVT 2 ohm replacement off of the factory amp for six years now. It's underpowered but like you I'm not into the boom ... boom ... boom type of music.

I could definitely hear the difference even with the OEM amp. It "fills out the sound" but doesn't have the power to vibrate mirrors let alone annoy neighbors. :biggrin: I'd be tempted to install that Kicker amp mounted under the steering column (if it'll fit) just to get the most out of the new sub. One of these days I'll get around to doing the same.
