I am having some sort of wireing issue with my Jeep. I have a 1997 tj 2.5l with virtually no modifications. When I bought it the tj had been sitting in a barn for about 7 years. So some wires have been fixed and a old trailer harness removed. But ever since I got my tj running and tagged only the 3rd break light works and the tail lights flash with my blinker on but only when my break pedal is not depressed. And quits blinking all together when brakes are pressed(head light on). (Head lights off ) tail lights flash with blinker on only 3rd break light works but still flashes tail lights both with and with out depressed brake. It is making me crazy

I'm not that familiar with jeep specific wiring, but typically when I have a light problem (headlight or taillight), it's from a bad ground.

Your Jeep has sat for 7 years. Have you tried to remove the taillight grounds or bulbs, clean the sockets and grounding surface, and reinstall? At worst, it will only cost you a little time.

I have replaced all of the bulbs cleaned the contacts as well as checked fuses and replaced multi function switch

This is my first Jeep so I’m still looking around for all of the grounds I have moved and cleaned a few I found under the hood but I have sill not located the grounds in the rear portion of my tj

Also when my head lights are on I have a strong feeling that my tail lights are not working as well judging by the reactions of other drivers tonight as well as no reverse lights

The taillights are grounded by the bolts that hold the housing into the tub. Have you check the fuse? I believe its #2 behind the glovebox.

Fuses are all good but I will check my grounds again today they looked ok when I changed my bulbs when I first got it about a month ago but they might be loose considering my left tail light is loose

I really have no clue what is going on I hit a bump in the road and now everything is back to normal with the Jeep
