So recently purchased an LJ and have been enjoying it a lot! However I want to make life better for my husky, Luna.
Ultimately, I'd like this thread for everyone to share their dog setups, and maybe I could take some ideas too!
As for me, I have several issues I'm looking into currently.
1. She loves sticking her head out.
2. She loves to chew.
3. She sheds A LOT.
For the first issue, I'm really not sure what to do. I've been calling around everywhere in the GTA any custom body/glass shop and they won't do this, to where I can get a sliding window or popout window setup on my OEM hard top which would allow her to stick her head out. If it doesn't work out I will just sell the hardtop after winter and get a soft top mainly for her (and some personal enjoyment ). I'm not going to give up searching though...I would really like both tops. In the summer I'll be getting a mesh net for top off as well for her safety.
For the second issue, I would use one of those steel cables that tie into the child mounting bracket in most cars to connect to her harness/collar. Reason I use that and not any of the variety of nylon seatbelts is because....she likes to chew a lot on restraints when the car isn't moving for a little bit or been driving for awhile. I have to move the actual seatbelts out of the way otherwise she would destroy those.
Now the Jeep doesn't have a child mounting bracket like that. I was going to use this:

And attach that with this: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B002AN6STC/?tag=tjforum-20
So the harness connects to the steel leash which connects to this zipline. I believe I could attach the zipline to the top of the sports cage at the rear seats so its high enough she couldn't chew that off. However I'm struggling to figure out how it could connect securely to the sports cage.
Also, the trunk would be filled with things most of the time, so it's not a viable option 90% of the time, but when there are passengers in the back, she would be in the trunk. I believe the same setup would work in the trunk, would just move the zipline to the rear of the Jeep.
For the third issue, any good options for seat covers/hammocks for dogs on the bench seat, and trunk?
I have a chemical guys brush that works really well on all sorts of fabric types, so cleaning up the fur is no issue, but I'd like to not have it on the actual seats and something I could add/remove to the Jeep depending on if she's riding with me or not.
Thanks for reading!
