Question about frameless soft top coverage

Hi Forum -

Looking for info from you all with Frameless soft tops. I got a used Rampage and the top doesn’t quite cover the head area of the rear passengers. Right now my only rear passengers are my 4 and 2 year old. But we live on the Rockies where a biblical down pour is a near constant threat. So I need it to cover then a little better. I opted for frameless bc I wasn’t keen on having the frame rail right next to their faces which I hypothesized could break even with a minor impact from some trail overhang.

So my questions
1) suggestions on other frameless tops that can cover more of the rear passenger area
2)a counterfactual against my frame rail concerns
3) other ideas? Eg leave the rear windows on all the time?

So you mean it’s not covering enough when the back windows are out? I don’t think any other top is going to go further back without it having a frame… the corner of the roll bars is as far back as frameless can go, unless I’m missing something?

I think you’re right and I came to the same conclusion but figured I would check with the brain trust.

I have the Bestop. This is what it covers.

I have both a framed OEM top and bestop trektop NX. The framed soft top will solve the problem you have. It has much more rear coverage. If it rains, the trektop leaks onto my kids in the back when it’s a safari top. My tj is a third vehicle that stays windowless all summer so it doesn’t get driven if rain is in the forecast. Pretty sure all the fastback style tops will not cover the entire rear seat.
