Questions about replacing fuel pump

What happened to manual fuel pumps on our Jeeps?
They were just too hard to crank while driving. :ROFLMAO:

For mechanical engine driven pumps, they didn't work nearly well for engines once we went with electronic fuel injection. At least they were easier to change lol.

High pressure mechanical pumps are way more expensive than electric. Diesel trucks have engine driven pumps that work at pressures high enough but they are very expensive compared to a dinky electric pump in the tank. Diesel injection pumps are well over $1k and ours are a small fraction of that. Like almost everything, cost is what put the pump at the bottom of our tank.
