Radiator Gurgling

My temp gauge reads mid all of the time, only a overheated once about a few months ago coming from mountains. I changed thermostat today after gurgling and white stuff on fender (see video) yesterday after a 70 mile round trip. I’ve noticed no leaks less the white stuff, nothing under Jeep... the reserve tank releases all at night and fills up after trips... see video. And advice appreciated.

Is your coolant system properly purged of air?

Gurgling = bad radiator cap

I'm thinking loose, wrong pressure rating, or bad/leaky radiator cap too. If you replace it make sure the new cap has the correct 18 lb. pressure rating.

I had what sounded like the cooling system gurgling after turning off the engine, no other symptoms. Turned out to be a water pump.

I had that as well. I’d turn off the engine and sounded like fluids moving from under the hood. Never had issues until Friday coming from a 200 mile round trip to go off roading, my TJ was over heating coming home. So most likely it’s my water pump? I’m considering overhauling the entire system but if I don’t have to change the radiator yet that would be nice.

Yeh but could also be radiator cap like the other guys have said. Personally, if you are thinking of overhauling the system do it, then you can sit back and forget about it. Nothing worse than overheating engines.

Yea I know you’re right. I’m just being frugal. I don’t want to have to drive 80 miles again on tap water as coolant

What is this white foam you are talking about? Is it like dish soap bubbles or a more thick sludgy foam? That nasty type was a head gasket leak once for me. Oil would get forced into cooling system. Gurgling after shutdown when radiator would leak pressur back into cylinder or oil system. Never found out which one it bled into. But change the cap first. It is the easiest, fastest, cheapest, most likely cause.
