Ratchet straps

Ok. So I have a dozen or so straps, and I'm looking to replace a few, maybe add a few (recommendations welcome). I've been keeping them rolled and in a small toolbag, but I've been pushing the limits of this bag all along.

What's the best way to store these? I leave them in my bed under the tonneau cover in the silverado, or in the toolbox on the GMC. I need them to be organized if for no other reason to appease my OCD, as well as easy to move from one vehicle to another. If anyone knows of another, larger tool bag that isn't ridiculously expensive, I'd be ok with that. I'd rather not use a hard case, but will if that's the best solution.

What do y'all use? Psychos that just toss them in the bed all willy-nilly need not reply.

I roll them up and tuck them as neatly as possible into the plastic toolbox where I keep all my survival stuff- jumper cables, tow straps/clevises, etc.
In other vehicles (Jeeps) they are rolled up and tucked under the seats.
I don't usually move them from one to another because I tend to forget to move them back. Then Im spending way too much time looking for them.

I keep mine in their original case, although that comes at the cost of a little wasted space. If you need soft tool bags HF has lots of different ones, I am a fan of soft bags too and wouldn't think of carrying a hard sided tool box around in my Jeep.

BTW if your ratchet straps are not the self retracting kind, some re-useable zip ties work good to keep them rolled up.

I only keep 1” straps and 1/4” nylon rope in my vehicles all others along with my tow straps, axel straps and frame hooks are kept in milk crates and I pull them out when needed. Rubber bungee straps are hung on a wall in the shop. 1”-2”-6” straps are bound with ball bungees. 2” & 6” straps are removed from the ratchet. I have a strap winder to make things easier. Trucker chain is kept in steel 5gal buckets by size and binders hang on a wall.
As you can see in the pictures I have a shit ton of straps.

I think HF is where the current bag I'm using came from. I need to see if they have anything larger and of equal or greater quality compared to the one I'm using.

I'm not a fan of self retracting straps. Just something else to go wrong I guess. I usually carry several straps of varying length and strength for various circumstances. It's not uncommon that I have multiple things strapped to a trailer while also several others strapped into the bed. It also never fails that whoever I'm with, needs a strap and didn't bring any

A 30cal or 50cal can is too small for my needs. Anything larger I won't want to lug around. I've been really happy with the bag, just need a larger one (without it being too big) that will hold up.

I have some other tool bags for different purposes that haven't been used hard, but aren't holding up well. So it's had me a bit gun-shy about ordering a replacement online without being able to verify size and quality first.

I'm sure we do, but few and far between and I don't know their whereabouts. There's a prepper store & uniform shop here that gets surplus stuff and sells stuff on consignment, but you just never know what will be there, and it's always a small selection.

That said, that's a good idea I hadn't considered. I'll check with a couple of places and check with some of my military buddies and see what i can come up with.

I've got a good amount in the trailer tongue box from U.S. Cargo Control, including my Jeep tie down equipment. They seem to be a pretty solid value/quality balance and are available on Amazon. I have retractables in the truck (stored under the back seat), been using Erickson since they first came out and they hold up pretty well if you keep them stored, less so if you just leave them out.

I use velcro straps to manage extra strap length on the trailer both in use and stored, could probably do the same thing with a roll of 1" velcro:

That's actually on my list. Been searching for a decent price on quality velcro. I've got a few pieces I did this with in the past with good success.

I forgot about US Cargo Control.... I used to have some of their straps, but someone else apparently needed them more than I did, and I couldn't find them locally anymore at the time. I'll do some browsing. Thanks for the recommendation!

I take mine apart, wrap them up and stack them in the compartment underneath my seat. Really need to find a better solution.
