Mechanic took our rear bench seat out to do some work. Having trouble inserting the metal rou d rod into the bracket holes. I can get one side but not the other. Is there a trick?

There are hitch pins that slide onto the pivot rod once the rods are inserted into the pivot bracket.
These the hitch pins are installed onto the rods after the rods are inserted into the pivot brackets.
Check to see if the hitch pins have been removed from both rods before inserting into the pivot brackets.

Might depend on what year you have; but on mine, you have to squeeze the two bars to open up the latches.
