Rear DC Joint Squeek?

Very dry climate here.
Chirping.
Pulled front drive shaft.
Still chirping.
Noticed sound is coming from behind.
Considered wheel bearing (Still possible).
Oiled Rear DC joint.
Chirp was gone... for 5 minutes.
Now thinking it may be the center ball in the DC.
But it is less than a year old.

Do DC joints need to be lubed regularly? I didn't see any fittings.

Next move, have shop pull DC apart and check center ball?

Sounds like a rear CV centering ball from how you're describing it. Pull the rear and drive around in front wheel drive for a bit to see if the noise goes away.

CV joints need to be greased at every oil change (as does every fitting on the driveshaft). My driveshafts were never greased once for the first year after I changed driveshafts (never occurred to me, thought the shop would do it during my oil changes). The joints started squeaking horribly and the slip joints actually locked up.

If it were me, I'd get a new driveshaft with sealed joints and a sealed CV centering ball. But you can certainly get that shaft rebuilt at any driveline or transmission shop.

I had my front shaft rebuilt last year because I wanted to get rid of the cheap joints that came with my adams driveshafts. I don't know why it didn't occur to me until right now, but I actually paid the shop more than the cost of a brand new driveshaft to rebuild my old one. Having sealed joints makes everything nicer, especially on the front driveshaft. Greasing the front CV ball is a bit of a hassle because you have to drop the skid plate in order to pull the shaft.
