I'd like to move to an SPOD type controller for my accessories, but I can't seem to get around the rear wiper /defrost. I plan to run a pair of Eaton e-lockers, small air compressor, rock lights, and likely some other aux lighting. Has anyone else successfully used an aftermarket controller for the wiper and defrost?

Those circuits are more complicated than you probably realize. I replaced my OEM switches with a switch panel I built myself. I had to spend a lot of time analyzing the circuit to understand how to make them work properly....brb while I find the relevant posts.

The wiper is tricky because the same switch controls the wiper, and then also the wiper + the washer function. So you need a latching switch combined with a momentary switch to make it work as designed. There's a trick with the ground, too, that parks the wiper after you turn it off.
The defrost is also tricky. It uses a timed relay in the instrument cluster to turn on the defroster (pressing it again turns it off), and then a secondary circuit to light up the switch. It is also a momentary switch, since you just need to briefly ground the circuit to start/stop the defroster function.
If you can power through my ramblings in those threads, you should be in good shape.

The first link doesn’t seem to work. This is certainly more complicated than just running lights. I don’t own a hard top or even loam to buy one.

If you don't have a hard top then why are you worried about wiring for the wiper & defrost?
I don't think I even loam to buy one either.
