I've got a new to me '98 Wrangler. When I press the rear wiper switch, the wiper does not turn on and the light does not come on the switch. But, the light does come on the defroster switch. If I press the switch further, the washer does work. The defroster switch appears to work as it should. Anyone have an idea how to begin troubleshooting this?

Thanks.

jump the switch. Or see if you have 12v across open switch and 0 volts when switch is closed. Fuse?

Is there a light on your wiper switch? My ‘03 doesn’t have an indicator light for the wiper, only my defroster switch has the amber indicator light signifying it’s on.

I agree with the above post. Check the fuse first. If that’s good, check the switch for continuity. The service manuals are available here to show you which pins to check.

Thanks for replies. Took me a while to get back to this as other, more pressing issues, popped up.

Upon closer inspection, the wiper switch does not have a light.

Fuse is good. Problem proved to be the plug from the tub to the top. It wasn’t just barely connected it.
