Reconnecting steering shafts

Alright- so the heater core swap is nearly done- trying to reconnect the steering shaft.

It's almost like one end or the other has reacted to the drop in temps like George Castanza- with the steering column nuts loosely mounted, it's like the shaft needs to be ~1/2" longer to engage.

Is one or the other a slip joint that I'm just not finding one here?

I'm guessing you figured the shaft telescopes. FYI considering the beer factor just so you know the steering wheel goes on the left side

yeah- had stop pulling like a weenie...

As for the left side, at this point, I'll make it a RHD if it means the misery ends.

Whatever you do don't beat on anything , a guy recently damaged his upper column bearings . Bad deal.

I finally got the rest of my money from Borgersen .

Had to point out they promised a refund ...then backed out and kept my part . And copied my attorneys on the email.

Crazy. New shaft was .009 smaller at the bearing collar.

I'm pretty sure I got it together correctly. Gonna do a nice, gentle test drive around the neighborhood enjoying my comfy cozy warm air.
