So, new tires installed today, and they are so much quieter I can hear things that used to be covered up in tire noise - including an alternator bearing going bad. I thought it may be the idler or tensioner, and while the idler was a bit gritty, the tensioner was okay spin-wise; but I replaced them both anyway. When I did so, the alternator felt a little gritty as well. Now that I can hear it, I want to fix it. Any suggestions for a replacement?

2006 LJ - stock 117 amp alternator. I don't think I can do the durango swap, so thats a no-go.

Anyone know if just the bearings could be serviced? The alt performs flawlessly, aside from a whine.

I went for the aftermarket thinking I can save a buck and lasted a year and a half.
My advise is get the OEM. Or let the jeep dealership fix it for lifetime warranty (this is what I did the second time around).
